Konkani Carol Singing Competition:
1 Carmel Kutam, Bangalore organized Konkani Carol Singing Competition for Bangaloreans. It was a evening of ‘Angels Singing’ as the young children as well as elders competing each other with all energy and exuberance during ‘Konkani Christmasachin Gayanan Spardho’ held at Sadhbavana, Carmelite Provincialate Dr Rajkumar Road, Bangalore on Sunday 14th December 2014. Among many a initiative to imbibe Konkani culture with the children and elders with a sense of togetherness among Konkani speaking Catholics after “Pokanan Nite” this competition was shared by Children’s upto 7th Std, Youths upto II PUC and rest forming ‘Elders’ who sang with gusto to the delight of the audience and co-participants.

‘PokanaNite’ at Sadbhavana
It was a great day indeed for the ‘KarmelKutam-Bangalore’as the long awaiting dream,the ‘PokanaNite’ was organized with great successfirst time in the history of Bangalore. It was the dream of the KarmelKutam to do something new to bring the Konkani speaking families togetherwho are scattered all thorugh the city of Bangalore. The dream was realised in the form of PokanaNite – a three hour long comedy show put up by two stalwarts Nellu with his comedy company and Richard Louis the renowned Comedian, thinker who is known for his ‘Harate’ and ‘Nage Habba’ programmed all over kannada region.

Monthi Fest at Sadbhavana
The B’day of our Mother ‘Monthi Fest’ was celebrated in Sadbhavana on 7th of September with all solemnity. The offering of the flowers and Blessing of the Corn was done at the main entrance. With the melodius chorus of traditional hymn ‘Moriyek Hogalsiya’ all children gathered offered the flowers to Baby Mary joyfully. Rev. Fr. Charles Serrao, the Provincial presided over the Eucharist and preached a wonderful homily on the life of Mary highlighting her qualities we need to imitate. After the mass new corn (novem) and sugar canes were distributed. All broke the fast after the mass which was arranged by the Carmel Kutam.

Carmel Kutam Bangalore celebrates the Feast of Mount Carmel
Carmel Kutam of Bangalore celebrated the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel on 20th of July, Sunday in Sadhbhavana with all jubilation and solemnity. Rev. Fr. George Santhumayor presided over the Eucharistic celebration and preached a heart touching homily highlighting the role of Mother Mary in protecting and guiding the Christians in the footsteps of Christ. Good number of Carmelite priests from near and far participated in the celebration. 500 people from different parts of Bangalore joined in the celebration and honored and thanked Mother Mary for her maternal protection. After the mass the scapular which is the sign of Marian protection was distributed to all those who participated in the Mass.

EASTER CELEBRATED AT SADBHAVANA
April 19, 2014 evening at 9-00pm the Sadbhavana chapel was overflowing with faithful from all over the Capital city who came to celebrate and rejoice at the resurrection of the Lord. The solemn festal Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Fr Vinod Lobo along with Frs. Jossey, Canute, Silvestre and William Miranda. Fr William Miranda preached an inspiring homily. At the beginning of the mass the blessing of the fire took place through which the Easter candle was lighted and solemn exulted was sung. The entire Easter liturgy was symbolic and rich in meaning. The liturgy was animated by Br Godwin Rodrigues. 

Good Friday @ Sadbhavana
April 18, 2014, as the Holy Mother the Catholic Church observed the Good Friday throughout the World, the faithful of the vicinity gathered together at Sadbhavana premises at 8-00am to meditate on the way of the cross. The entire way of the cross was centered upon the family life with deep thoughts and reflections. The passion liturgy and the veneration of the cross commenced at 5-00pm which was presided over by Fr Vinod Lobo along with other four friars of the community.

Maundy Thursday celebrated at Sadbhavana
April 17, 2014: Maundy Thursday, the night before the crucifixion of Jesus was a greatest day in the history of the Catholic Church. On this special and holy day, Jesus instituted the Sacrament of the Eucharist, the Sacrament of the Priesthood and the greatest commandment of love by washing the feet of the disciples. This special day was celebrated at Sadbhavana at 6-30pm with supreme solemnity. The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Fr Archibald Gonsalves, Provincial Superior along with other four community friars.

Palm Sunday celebrated at Sadbhavana
Palm Sunday is one of the most important days in the Christian calendar after Christmas and Easter. It is the Sunday before Easter, and marks the beginning of Holy Week, the week of events leading up to Jesus' death. This special Sunday was celebrated at Sadbhavana on April 13, 2014 at 8-00 am with utmost devotion. All the faithful gathered together at the ground for the blessing of the palms. Fr Vinod Lobo blessed the palms and invited all the faithful to participate in the passion of the Lord during this Holy week. 

Ash Wednesday @ Sadbhavana, Bangalore
Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent and holds special meaning for all the Catholics. It marks the beginning of a forty day period of fasting and prayer. On this special day, that is, on March 5, 2014, the faithful of the neighborhood of Rajajinagar and other places assembled at Sadbhavana at 6-00pm to observe the Ash Wednesday and thus enter into the season of Lent. The Holy Eucharist was presided over by Fr Vinod Lobo along with other community friars of Sadbhavana.

Farewell to Fr. Joachim Rodrigues, OCD
February 16, 2014 Sunday, Sadbhavana friars along with the faithful of the vicinity bid farewell to Fr. Joachim Rodrigues as he is flying to Spain for his higher studies in Carmelite Spirituality. Fr. Joachim Rodrigues presided over the Eucharistic celebration along with Frs. Archibald Gonsalves, William Miranda and Vinod Lobo. Mrs. Prameela D’ Souza on behalf of the Carmel Kutam felicitated Fr. Joachim while Mr. Dolfy D’ Cunha, president of Carmel Kutam along with other members offered a bouquet of flowers.

INFANT JESUS IS HONOURED IN THE SILICON CITY
January 26, 2014 Sunday, the devotees of Infant Jesus came together in Sadbhavana to celebrate the annual feast of Infant Jesus. The festal mass commenced at 10.30am presided over by Rev. Fr Archibald Gonsalves, Provincial Superior along with other twelve Carmelite priests and three diocesan priests from St Peter’s Pontifical Seminary. Fr Provincial in his homily highlighted the various aspects of prayer and invited all to take the example of St Teresa of Avila who is the teacher in the Catholic Church in the field of prayer. 

Farewell to 2013 & Welcome to 2014
December 31, 2013 was the last day of the year all over the globe and for the Catholics it is dual celebration. On the one hand the solemnity of Mary the Mother of God and on the other hand New Year 2014. On this auspicious day the faithful of the vicinity gathered around the altar of the Lord at Sadbhavana to thank the Lord for the innumerable blessings that God has showered upon us. At 9-00pm adoration of the Blessed Sacrament was conducted to thank the Lord for the manifold blessings, which was followed by Thanksgiving Holy Eucharist presided over by Rev. Fr. Archibald Gonsalves along with other three priests.

CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION AT SADBHAVANA
The birth of Jesus was celebrated at Sadbhavana on December 24th night with greatest solemnity. At 9-00pm, the Carmel Choir members under the leadership of Bro. Jeevan D’ Souza melodiously sang the Christmas Carols which raised the hearts and minds of the faithful to reflect on the birth of our Saviour. The festal mass commenced at 09-30pm. Fr. Archibald Gonsalves presided over the Eucharistic celebration along with other six fathers including Fr. Rajesh Madtha.

CARMEL KUTAM CELEBRATES FAITH IN BANGALORE
Carmel Kutam, Bangalore celebrated the closing of the Year of Faith on Sunday, 24 Nov. at Sadbhavana, Carmelite Provincialate, Bangalore. The day began with the retreat preached by renowned preacher, Fr. Wilfred Frank, ocd. Then the statue of the Immaculate Heart of Mary was brought in procession by the Brothers of the Heralds of the Gospel. In the evening Fr. Archibald Gonsalves, the Carmelite Provincial presided over the Eucharist along with other priests.

SEMINAR ON THE BOOK OF FOUNDATION – MYSORE CARMELITE FAMILY
A Seminar on the Book of Her Foundations was held on the 22nd of September 2013 for the Carmelite Family Mysore in Flos Carmeli Convent, Hale Kesare. Fr. Wilfred Rodrigues was the resource person for the whole day except for a little intervention by another scholar Fr. Jeevan Tauro. As many as 80 to 85 members of various Carmelite congregations participated and profited a lot from it. They were divided into 8 equal groups for discussion on the chapters they were allotted by the resource person covering the whole book, which was later reported. 

Birthday of Infant Mary at Sadbhavana
The birthday of our Heavenly Mother Mary which is popularly known as the Monthi fest was solemnized on September 8, 2013 at Sadbhavana, Bangalore. The celebration commenced at 7-45 am offering of the flowers to Infant Mary by the little children followed by the blessing of the new corn and thereafter the solemn mass presided over by Fr. Vinod Lobo along with other three priests namely Frs. Jossey Rodrigues, Canute D’ Souza and Vijay D’ Costa.

All the office bearers of FKCA (Federation of Konkani Catholic Associations) and Presidents of Member associations and Office bears of CARMEL KUTAM visited Archbishop of Bangalore Most Rev. Dr. Bernard Moras at his residence and wished him on his 72nd Birthday on 10th August, 2013. Archbishop was very much elated about the gesture and good spirit of Konkani Community and blessed all the Konkani communities on this auspicious occasion.

OUR LADY OF MOUNT CARMEL FEAST IN THE CAPITAL CITY
The feast of our Heavenly Mother, Our Lady of Mount Carmel was solemnized on July 21, 2013 at Sadbhavana, Bangalore. The members of Carmel Family and the devotees of Mary gathered around the altar of the Lord at 10.30 am. The solemn Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Rev. Fr. Archibald Gonsalves, Provincial Superior and concelebrated by ten Carmelites of Bangalore and other places. Fr. Deep Fernandes preached an inspiring homily highlighting the qualities of Mary.

Secular Carmel (OCDS) Annual Day
The Annual Day of the Secular Carmel Mysore (OCDS) was celebrated on Saturday 23.2.13 at Pushpashrama. It was also to mark the anniversary of the Profession of the Secular Carmelites (27th Feb.). Fr. Wilfred Rodrigues their Spiritual Director celebrated the Solemn Mass and preached the homily inviting them to give importance to prayer and have the transfiguration experience (Gospel of the day) and also to be faithful to their vows as Abraham was faithful to the covenant (I reading).

SOLEMN PROFESSIONS: take my life O Lord!
The Karnataka Goa Province rejoices with eleven brothers who made their final commitment in the Order. Bros. Nitesh Rodrigues, Cannio Cardozo, Kaushik Parmar and Daniel Christain made their Solemn Profession on the 27th of May 2012 at Mira Road, Mumbai. Most Rev. Agnelo Gracias, the Auxiliary Bishop of Bombay, who is also the Rector of Goregaon Seminary was gracious enough to be present and offer the Eucharist.

Mangalore: Two Carmelite Deacons were Ordained Priests
Infant Jesus Shrine, Bikarnakatte, Mangalore rejoiced and wore a festive look as two Carmelite Deacons were raised to the Sacred Order of Priesthood on Thursday 18th April 2013. Very Rev. Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, the Bishop of Mangalore presided over the solemn Eucharistic celebration that began at 3.30 pm. In his homily he dwelt on the various aspects of priesthood and encouraged the families to build up faith in their young children so that they inherit a desire to serve the Lord.

FIRST CARMELITE OF BELUR PARISH ORDAINED
The tiny village of Mathihalli, in Hassan District, Karnataka, rose on 16th April, 2013 to the strains of music and there was an atmosphere of jubilation. Deacon Richard Menezes, who grew up and nurtured his vocation in this Christian community, was ordained to the Priesthood by Most Rev. Thomasappa Anthonyswamy, the Bishop of Chickmagalur during a solemn Eucharist, concelebrated by over 40 priests. The mission of Belur, to which the sub-station of Mathihalli belongs, was entrusted to the Discalced Carmelites of the Karnataka-Goa Province in 1982.
